And today’s Remake of a Movie Had it Been Based on Your Parents’ Friends:
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING GARY O’DWYER
Gary O’Dwyer’s fate was sealed. His wife, Sheryl, had signed him up for “Grill Duty” at the Annual Neighborhood Block Party. His brother Franky couldn’t let him do it alone - so he volunteered to man the second grill.
Gary and Franky stood unflinching in the face of countless snotty neighbor-kids barking orders “I said Medium Rare… NO PICKLES!… Don’t you have turkey burgers?!” They suffered through the meat grease and smoke with no end in sight… until they remembered that two men standing united in hope for change could topple even the best-organized Neighborhood Watch Committee. Frank and Gary grabbed the bags of remaining uncooked burgers - nodded to one another in commitment and, in perfect synchronization, dropped the meat on the floor.
Burger time was over. (Until Sheryl went out and bought more burgers.)
Those brave brothers sacrificed themselves to the wrath of their wives but showed the other husbands in the neighborhood what a brief moment of freedom looked like.
